We’re continuing our with our Friday introductions! Today I’d like to introduce you to Cindy Raices, MA, LPC. Cindy is a valuable member of our Heritage team. One unique thing about Cindy is that she is able to provide counseling services in Spanish.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up on the east coast! My husband and I recently moved to IL and have been adjusting to pizza cut into squares ever since.
What made you decide to become a counselor?
Growing up, I saw addiction, depression and abuse all around me. It created a desire within me to simply speak life to people that were struggling. I had the opportunity to see key people in my life model what support looks like when others are battling.
I eventually went into the field of social work and worked with people that were overwhelmed and stuck in a state of brokenness. I quickly realized that in order to see change in the system, there had to be inner healing that happened, one person at a time.
What are your specialty areas in counseling or some of your favorite things to help people address in counseling?
I love to work in a variety of areas in counseling. I have experience in working with substance abuse, foster families and children. I love to work with people that are in a transitional point in their lives. It’s such a blessing for me to see God heal and restore in their process.
What is your current favorite Bible verse?
“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:10-11
What do you like to do when you are not counseling?
Outside of Heritage, I love to travel, sit in the sun and spend quality time with the people I love.
